There was an engraving in the castle. It describes a war in the country. The war was between the militiamen organized by farmers and the government’s military. This war was neither related to the territory or border problem. This was a Civil War. Farmers were fought for their rights. The government thought this was a kind of rebellion. The problem was the King held dominant power. At that time, there was no Confederation or Senate. The government was overlooked by the king. The casualties were the common people. If they wanted to have an expedition and wanted to occupy a fort, they needed to corner the ammunition and food to conserve strength. The government forced the people to hand over the food and guns. They also dislodged the radical people. Another way to collect money was imposed people to purchase the products produced by the government. No one wanted to buy these products in a war time. The king boasted himself built a splendid government so that everyone should follow his step to comply with these policies. After one skirmish, the withdrawal of government’s military was begun. Moreover, the contiguous countries had a peaceful life. So many frontiersmen had escaped to other countries. The government military’s secession was so serious. No one approved of the king’s behavior. He added a lot of revenue. The whole country was in a jumbled situation. The government could enlist the military because they knew people had to support their families. So the government just gave a little money to each person could organize a military. But they realized they couldn’t have a good life under this rule. They thought they clashed with their brethren. So the farmers won at last, and they signed a treaty. The treaty was implemented quickly. But the king still governed this country.

Posters from Word War II

This article talks about the important elements to win a war. In World War II, the weapons such as guns, tanks, and bombs were the necassary staff to prepare and win a war. These were the outside key to win the war. If a country want to win a war, also need some mental aspect’s methods. Words, posters, and films can influence the American citizens’ hearts and minds. This was a good way to stimulate and cheer for the public support. So in that occasion, the nation’s foremost intellectuals, artists, and film makers played important role to the war’s victory.

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/powers_of_persuasion/its_a_womans_war_too/images_html/we_can_do_it.html

1.This picture tells there were many women had no job or did nothing before the wartime. But since the war beguin, the country needed women to make effort in the industries for the civilian service, and even the Armed Forces. The women had to hold job in wartime and did anything they can do.

2.This let me thinking about the women are thought as a weak group all the time. But during the wartime, even the women should make some contrubution for the country. They were not cannot do something, and they just be thought cannot do something. So in the enmergency time, the country encouraged the women to get job in the industries or the army it’s right. Only in this way, the government stimulated and concentrated all the power together, so the country could go through the war.

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/powers_of_persuasion/warning/images_html/our_homes_in_danger.html

1. This tells us in the World War II the Nazi of Fascism threaten the safe of United State. They were two groups: Japan and Cermany. So they appealed to the emotions from citizens. And they intimidated the peace of world.

2. I think they were cruel. They destroied the peaceful world environment. At that time, people feared the army. Also, I think this is a good poster to stimulate people’s emotion. This poster related to human’s individual right. Everyone would feel fear from this poster. The Fascism is horrible and we shouldn’t let it rise again.

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/powers_of_persuasion/united_we_win/images_html/united_we_win.html

1.This picture shows during World War II, racial restriction and segregation were facts of life in the U.S. military. Whereas, there were a huge amout of African Americans participated in the fight. Besides, they were wholeheartedly and contributing. So the government was aware the effect of racial prejudice in the war. They begun to advocated united together.

2. I think this is a wonderful policy. Not just because of this war, and this will be a trend for the racial prejudice change. The will of the people is most important to win a war. They concentrated the public feeling, united the African Americans and Americans. In this way, they had both objective and subjective factors.

This article is talk about the food administration in wartime. The process of the Food and Fuel Control Act to be implemented. On August 10, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson issued Executive Order 2679-A creating the U. S. Food Administration. And he created three policies about the food administration in order to implement them in each state. And Herbert Hoover thought in wartime citizens should sacrifice themslves to the country. The lever act gave the president power to regulate the distribution, export, import, purchase, and storage of food. The government wanted to collect and mobilize the food during World War 1.

This was a kind of policy or strategy to help the country went through the wartime. We know the importance of the people’s right and freedom. But in this emergency occasion, we should thinking about the overall interest. The food and fuel were the most important ensure to win a war. If a country begain a war, the most benefit thing for the citizen is to end the war as soon as possible. The food must supply the war in time. If the military cannot be supplied duly and sufficiently, the country will be in trouble.

Summary:

There was a conflict between the western United States by Americans and Europeans and the Native Americans. There were many wars and conflicts between them since the 1860s to the 1870s around the American frontier. In 1868 the U.S. government agreed to return the northern territories. However, since they discovered gold in Montenegro (Black Hills) , the territorial conflicts occur frequently again. There are still some problems today about the territory.

If I’m a Sioux, I will try my best to contribute to my clansmen. Follow my chief to drive away the anamy. To protect our territory. Our land cannot be violated randomly. Our resources cannont be plundered easily. Even we are not strong enough!

The government sell the public land to block in auction, each minimum 640 acres of land and the price of per acre need one dollar at least and lump-sum payment. The Land Law increase each acre of land’s minimum sale price to 2 dollars. The pay period change to one year later, sub-four-year paid. After the result of the provision cannot meet the large number of farmers who are westward migration’s demand for land, the U.S. government continued to narrow the minimum purchase of land from 640 acres down to 160 acres to reduce the sale price of state-owned land. The rule is from January 1, 1863 the over 21-year-old citizens can just cost 10 dollars and then on the right to acquire 160 acres or 160 acres of land below. After work on the farm five years, the land will be owned by individuals.

So i just gone through the process by cultivated the farm five years and costed 10 dollars to the land.

Dear Mother,

How is everything going? I miss you so much! How is dad? Is he any better? I heard that he was sick, so I am very worried about him. How is Xibao? Does she get a good grade on the school? I hope she could pass the math.

I am very well mom. Don’t worry about me! Now I am in the Stopsylvania right now. The battle is continuing everyday. It is very horrible and many people were dead. I am glad that I am lucky enough that I still can here to write letter to you. I just want to tell you that I love you so much. Tomorrow I will participant in another battle. I really hope this battle will end and no more people will die in this meaningless war. When this battle is end, I can go back to see you, mum. I miss you cookie so much. The food here is so bad!

I dreamed about that I cannot go back home to see u yesterday, mum. My bother was dead today. He was shoot by a sniper. I could even remember face when he got shoot. The people’s life is so valueless. I was scared to go outside to fight. My capital told me to be brave, to be like a man, however, I was still afraid to go outside of the trench. I don’t even know what is the meaning of this war.

Mum, I hope you not to tell this to my girlfriend. I don’t want her to be worried about me. I love her so much. And I love you and dad too.

Tomorrow is another day. I hope I am luck enough. I love u mum.

Best regards!

Yours,

Ximeng

Describe:

This is a big hall have many beds. This is a interim hospital filled of wounded soldiers. It is obvious to see it is a war time hospital. Many wounded lying in the bed and also have a lot of nurses. Also there are some churchmen beside each bed. This room’s raising-of-truss method is very high with simple beds and large windows. All the people seems very busy.

Other people’s effect of this picture:

Other people see this picture may think it is a very crowded room. The hospital is so simple and no enough medicines and chemical reagents. It is a hard time for the Civil War and for the citizens.

My effect of this picture:

When I saw this picture I think there are so many wounded during the Civil War. And I will thinking about why we will have a war? Do we need war to promote our society? And war means bleed or lay down one’s life. It is so different for a country or for individual.
